Court Fees to Rise

A new statutory instrument has been published which is increasing some court fees with effect from 8 April 2025.
The most relevant for landlords will be:
- The fee for issuing a possession claim in the County Court which will increase from £391 to £404 (and from £528 to £545 in the
High Court). - The fee for seeking permission in a claim for judicial review will increase from £169 to £174.
- Lodging an appeal at the Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber) will increase from £242 to £250.
- The hearing fee for cases in the First-Tier Tribunal (Property Chamber) will increase from £220 to £227.
