Modern Slavery

USEC  - Understanding and Safeguarding Emerging Communities Lincolnshire Police

Lincolnshire Police now have a dedicated team of officers to assist and work with the Foreign National Communities settled or settling with in the county. Our remit is broad and will work closely with the Foreign National Liaison Officers and Neighbourhood Policing Teams.

Of particular interest to the team are issues of Human Trafficking and Modern Day Slavery which may be closer than you think. Some persons come to the United Kingdom having been promised work and or a better life however once here those promises never come to fruition and they find themselves being controlled and forced to work or undertake actions that they never imagined they would do. Trafficking doesn’t have to be from overseas either, and victims are not all Foreign Nationals. Modern Slavery can include British people, some who would be considered vulnerable, and again who may be subject to being controlled and in some circumstances living in poor conditions against their will.

Our team is working closely with partner agencies to promote awareness and to encourage members of the public to contact us should they have any concerns.

If you know someone that might be subject to similar circumstances, then maybe we could help.

We can be reached at Boston or Lincoln Police Stations by dialling Lincolnshire Police on 101 and being put through to the USEC Team on Extension 5496 at Lincoln or 2359 at Boston or you can e mail us at USECteam@lincs.pnn.police.uk

If not you can call Crime Stoppers and provide information on 0800 555111 or the Modern Slavery Helpline on 0800 0121 700
