Civil Penalty Notice & CPN recovery Best Practice Workshop

The upcoming Renters Reform Bill will require the widespread use of Financial Penalties to comply with statutory duties.

Some Local Authority do not have the right processes in place to confidently process them.  Equally some Local Authorities who have issued them have struggle to recover the debt.

DASH Services is designed to share best practice and provide a space for these ideas to be discussed.

Sheffield City Council have adopted a strong use of Civil Penalty Notices (CPN) in their enforcement duties as well as having a positive track record of ensuring the recovery of such debt.

Peter Ramsay is a Team leader at Sheffield Council, is a great trainer and has a wealth of experience in the PRS. Peter has agreed to share CPN best practice with DASH.

Al Mcclenahan will also be joining DASH to discuss all things CPN.  Al is the Local Authority outreach lead for Tenants for Justice (JFT) and speaks with common sense and passion on the topic of CPN.

Justice For Tenants is a non-profit organisation funded to provide support services to help local authorities carry out financial penalties effectively and efficiently.

Following a careful review of every relevant precedent, a review of over half of all Tribunal appeals, and over 200 hours of interviews with team leads from the local authorities that carry out hundreds of financial penalties a year, JFT has created a model financial penalty policy and a range of funded support services.

Al will discuss how Local authorities can use this funded service to improve the services they offer.
