Rethink the Tenant Tax – Have your say

The National Landlords Association (NLA) has been lobbying the government asking them to #Rethinkthetenanttax. However, officials from the treasury cannot envision how the proposed tax changes will impact on tenants.

The ‘tenant tax’ as it is commonly referred to, or section 24 of the Finance Act 2015: Restriction of deduction for Finance Costs, will make borrowing more expensive for landlords,  which will inevitably lead to rent increases impacting on the affordability of the private rent sector for many tenants.

The demand for housing is already outstripping supply with many vulnerable tenants relying on the private rent sector as there are just not enough properties available through local councils and/or housing associations. The implementation of this tax will have a negative impact on the most vulnerable tenants and place greater pressure on council’s homelessness services which are already over-stretched.

DASH Services and the NLA invite you to ‘Have Your Say’ by clicking the below link and asking the government to #Rethink Tenant Tax, make sure your voice is heard.
