Lincolnshire landlords sought to support Ukrainians looking for private rental accommodation

The Lincolnshire Resettlement Partnership, comprising of Lincolnshire councils and a range of public sector agencies and charitable sector organisations all working together, is appealing to landlords to support Ukrainian guests that are struggling to access the private rental market.

Since March, Lincolnshire has welcomed more than 1,000 Ukrainians through the

Homes for Ukraine scheme with hosts offering temporary accommodation across the county. Having secured jobs, many Ukrainian families are now ready to move into their own accommodation following an initial six month stay with their hosts but are encountering various barriers when trying to access the private rental market.

The challenges they face include landlords requiring UK guarantors to difficulties in supplying a UK credit history for a long enough period which some letting agents require to secure a tenancy.

The Resettlement Partnership is aware of at least 65 Ukrainian families or individuals that have already successfully ‘moved on’ into private rental accommodation across the county and they hope to support many more into independent living.

If you’re able to support the scheme and help vulnerable Ukrainian families looking to secure their own homes, please contact the Lincolnshire Homes for Ukraine team on homesforukraine@lincolnshire.gov.uk
