Energy efficiency funding now available to landlords in North East Lincolnshire.

North East Lincolnshire Council and their regeneration partner EQUANS have successfully accessed over £1m of energy efficiency funding, reinforcing the Council’s commitment to taking action in light of the Climate Emergency.

This funding is intended to deliver energy efficiency improvements into residents’ homes, in times where tenants are struggling to pay energy bills due to increasing costs.

This funding, which is open to Landlords in North East Lincolnshire, intends to improve energy efficiency for low-income households in the area by installing energy efficient and low carbon heating upgrades, which aligns with Government plans to raise the energy efficiency rating of properties in 2025.

To qualify for the scheme, the property must be located in North East Lincolnshire and its occupiers must:

  • Have a combined household income of £30,000 or less (after rent/mortgage costs havebeen deducted) or be in receipt of means-tested benefits

And

  •   Have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) in bands D (D - 30% cap limited funding), E, F or G - please note that a new EPC will be provided at point of survey

There are two parts to the programme depending on whether a property is connected to the gas network or not. Depending on your property and your EPC rating, you may be able to access the following home improvements:

  • External Wall insulation
  • Cavity wall insulation
  • Loft/room-in-roof insulation
  • Electric storage heaters
  • Solar PV

Qualifying homeowners will receive fully funded installations, whereas landlords will be required to contribute around a third of the total cost for privately rented properties.

To assist landlords in financing their contribution, the Council has made a Landlord Energy Repayment Loan available. This is an interest-free loan of between £300 - £5000, repayable over 12 months - 5 years subject to the amount borrowed.

As an estimate, the Energy Saving Trust estimates that, external solid wall insulation can save the average household around £225 a year on fuel bills. The scheme can also help:

  • Improve the look of your property
  • Keep your home warm
  • Help save money on energy bills
  • Reduce your carbon footprint

The Council is working in partnership with YES Energy Solutions to help residents and landlords to qualify for the programme. Funding will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
