HMOs and Licensing

The Housing Act (2004) introduced licensing for Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs)

During late 2013 DASH was asked to look at what options local authorities had to improve housing standards using licensing.  The following useful guide has been produced –  Click here

Many Local Authorities are considering introducing Discretionary Licensing of properties in the private rented sector.

In order to introduce additional or selective licensing local authorities must go out to consultation.  DASH Landlord Accreditation have responded on behalf of landlord members and submitted the following responses:
